{"id":44030,"date":"2016-05-05T15:39:11","date_gmt":"2016-05-05T19:39:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wsvn.vip.10uplabs.com\/?p=44030"},"modified":"2016-05-23T11:25:48","modified_gmt":"2016-05-23T15:25:48","slug":"missing-miami-beach-police-k-9-found-safe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wsvn.com\/news\/local\/miami-dade\/missing-miami-beach-police-k-9-found-safe\/","title":{"rendered":"Missing Miami Beach Police K-9 found safe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Miami Beach Police K-9 officer who went missing, Thursday morning, has been found safe.<\/p>\n<p>Several hours after police agencies across South Florida asked for the public&#8217;s help in finding Colt, a Miami Beach Police K-9 in training, he was located and reunited with his handler, Officer Angulo.<\/p>\n<p>According to police, Colt, a 2-year-old Belgian Malinois, had last been seen at 2 a.m., near the intersection of 213th Street and Southwest 92nd Avenue. He was found safe, just after 1 p.m.<\/p>\n<div data-sun-oembed=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MiamiBeachPD\/status\/728303790827261953\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">We&#39;re so grateful that K9 Colt is safe and back home where he belongs! Thank you EVERYONE for all the help! <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/fxDKX0DYx4\">pic.twitter.com\/fxDKX0DYx4<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Miami Beach Police (@MiamiBeachPD) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MiamiBeachPD\/status\/728303790827261953?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 5, 2016<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/div>\n<p>Colt had just returned home from training when he escaped through the front door. &#8220;Once they went inside of the home, apparently, the front door wasn&#8217;t completely closed,&#8221; said Miami Beach Police officer Ernesto Rodriguez. &#8220;At the end of the day, no matter how much training you put into these dogs, a dog is a dog. He has a brain, and he has four paws, and he bolted out that front door.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Officers from at least six different agencies combed through the Cutler Bay neighborhood, all morning, going door to door, in a desperate search for Colt.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He is very valuable,&#8221; said Rodriguez.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;We need to ensure that he is reunited and back on the force, so he can protect the community,&#8221; he added.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Colt had a cone around his neck and a splint on his back, left paw due to a toe amputation, noted Rodriguez.<\/p>\n<p>The Belgian Malinois is also more than just an invaluable police officer, he is a family pet, who is loved by his trainer. &#8220;Not only is he with him day-in and day-out, he&#8217;s also obviously a part of the family,&#8221; said Rodriguez about the bond between the officer and Colt. &#8220;He comes home with him, so that bond is very close.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Miami Beach Police K-9 officer who went missing, Thursday morning, has been found safe.
