{"id":1314474,"date":"2023-05-03T22:54:01","date_gmt":"2023-05-04T02:54:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wsvn.com\/?p=1314474"},"modified":"2023-05-03T22:54:04","modified_gmt":"2023-05-04T02:54:04","slug":"north-bay-village-residents-of-condo-deemed-unsafe-receive-checks-after-donation-from-channel-7-foundation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wsvn.com\/news\/local\/miami-dade\/north-bay-village-residents-of-condo-deemed-unsafe-receive-checks-after-donation-from-channel-7-foundation\/","title":{"rendered":"North Bay Village residents of condo deemed unsafe receive checks after donation from Channel 7 Foundation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Some residents in North Bay Village have received a helping hand weeks after they were ordered out of a condominium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>North Bay Village Mayor Brent Latham on Wednesday delivered checks to those who were displaced when their <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/wsvn.com\/news\/local\/miami-dade\/condominium-in-north-bay-village-deemed-unsafe-residents-begin-moving-out\/\" target=\"_blank\">building was deemed unsafe<\/a> in April.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The money will hopefully help offset the costs of storage, temporary relocation and other housing costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We started a fund immediately, understanding that we were gonna need some resources to deal with, and we used a lot of those resources for hotels and temporary shelter to move people,&#8221; said Latham, &#8220;and then we got a very, very generous donation from Andy Ansin, the owner of Sunbeam [Corporation] and Channel 7, and with that donation, that&#8217;s really the principal that we&#8217;ve been able to use now for these payouts to the individual condo owners.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/wsvn.com\/news\/local\/miami-dade\/final-day-to-move-out-for-north-bay-village-condo-residents-after-building-deemed-unsafe\/\" target=\"_blank\">Residents of the Majestic Isle Condominium<\/a> received the evacuation order after an inspection uncovered several structural flaws.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Channel 7 is located in North Bay Village, and the Channel 7 Foundation made the donation to help out the neighbors in need.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Some residents in North Bay Village have received a helping hand weeks after they were ordered out of a condominium.
